Rasovic wins at national championship of Montenegro

Varsity Blues wrestler and theoretical physics doctoral student Andrija Rasovic made history in Podgorica by capturing gold during Montenegro's inaugural national freestyle wrestling championship in late December.

earned a first-place finish at the National Championship of Montenegro.

A native of Podgorica, Montenegro, the victory comes with major significance as it occurred at the first-ever national freestyle championship held in Montenegro. Taking place on December 21 in Podgorica, Rasovic claimed gold in the 97kg weight class.

The U SPORTS academic all-Canadian has been a member of the Varsity Blues wrestling team since 2021, competing at both OUA and U SPORTS Championships while working towards a PhD in theoretical physics.

Rasovic and the Blues continue their 2025-26 competition schedule in the new year with the Brock Open, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10.
