Brock
8-10-0
The University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey came up just short on Friday (Jan. 9) night, falling 3–2 in overtime to the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines, Ont. Windsor put together a strong road performance and held the lead for much of the game, but Brock rallied late and capitalized in overtime to secure the win.
STATS
Windsor held a slight edge in shots, outshooting Brock 31–29. Goaltender Max Donoso made 26 saves in the overtime loss, while Brock's Ben Bonisteel stopped 29 shots to earn the victory. Offensively, the Lancers received goals from Matt McNamara and Keegan McMullen, with McNamara scoring on the power play and Keegan McMullen adding an even-strength marker. Brock was led by Eric Barnard, who scored twice including the overtime winner, while Jonah Boria chipped in a goal and an assist.
GAME FLOW
After a 4-1 and 3-1 win at home last weekend against the Badgers, the Lancers looked to make it three straight against their divisional foe in an effort to further separate themselves in the OUA West standings. Brock opened the scoring in the first period, but Windsor responded with a power-play goal from Matt McNamara to even the game heading into the intermission. The Lancers carried their momentum into the second period, taking a 2–1 lead on a goal from Keegan McMullen, his OUA-leading 15th, and controlling much of the play through the middle frame. Brock pushed back in the third period and found the equalizer to force overtime. In the extra period, the Badgers completed the comeback with the game-winning goal, handing Windsor a narrow 3–2 defeat.
