The Axemen soccer program has added a familiar and committed presence to its back line with the commitment of Dartmouth, N.S., native Ryan Aucoin for the 2026 Atlantic University Sport season.

Aucoin, a six-foot centre back, brings leadership experience and a strong connection to the Acadia soccer community as he prepares to begin his university career in the Bachelor of Kinesiology program.

A product of United DFC, Aucoin has progressed through the club’s pathway from the U15AAA level to U17AAA and senior AAA competition. He captained United DFC during the 2025 U17AAA season, leading the team to a provincial semifinal appearance while continuing to develop as a reliable defender.

At the high school level, Aucoin has played for Dartmouth High School, where he served as co-captain in 2025 and contributed six goals over two seasons. His ability to organize play from the back and contribute in attacking situations has been a consistent part of his development.

In addition to his soccer background, Aucoin has also competed at a high level in hockey, playing U18 AAA over the past two years with the Pictou County Weeks and the Dartmouth Steele Subaru. That multi-sport experience has helped shape his competitiveness, work ethic, and leadership approach.

Aucoin said Acadia’s combination of academics, athletics, and community made the decision clear.

“Acadia has a tradition of excellence both academically and athletically,” he said. “Combined with the small town of Wolfville and the close ties to the community, it’s a perfect fit for me. I’m honoured to commit to Acadia and excited to be an Axeman.”

Head coach Matt Holton said Aucoin’s connection to the program and commitment to daily standards stood out during the recruiting process.

“We’re delighted to have Ryan join us for the 2026 season,” said Holton. “Acadia soccer has been a huge part of his life, and his passion for the program will ensure that he sets the highest standards for himself and his teammates every day.”
